Plan, Transform, Augment: MTI’s Modular Cyber Transformation Approach
East Suffolk & North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) Case Study
John Lamont, a seasoned IT professional with over 30 years of experience, currently serves as part of the digital data and technology team within the Integrated Care System (ICS) for the Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB).
The ICS, formed following the Health and Care Act of 2022, supports over a million people within its geographic boundaries. However, like most organisations, the ICS faces significant cybersecurity challenges. Each of the provider organisations, including the ICB, were at varying levels of digital maturity and cybersecurity.
The key challenge was understanding the complete cybersecurity landscape across each of the provider organisations and fostering trust and collaboration to work as one, in line with the National Cybersecurity Strategy.
To address these challenges, John decided to engage MTI. The decision to choose MTI over other cybersecurity solution providers was influenced by several key factors. MTI’s reputation, their comprehensive suite of services, and their ability to provide bespoke solutions tailored to the unique needs of the ICS were among the deciding factors.
With MTI’s help, the providers now have immutable backups in place, a critical measure considering recent cyber attacks. MTI also helped improve the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) capability and Cyber Essentials accreditation. The implementation process was smooth, and any obstacles encountered were promptly addressed by MTI’s responsive support team.
The immediate benefits of deploying MTI’s solution were noticeable. The ICS saw significant improvements in their cybersecurity posture, and the providers were better equipped to handle potential threats. The strategy focuses on risk reduction and managing vulnerabilities across the ICS, ensuring that the most important measures are taken to make their services resilient.
John and MTI are now working on a robust cybersecurity strategy and plan, ready to be presented to the ICB board. This strategy, a requirement of NHS England, has put the ICS ahead of the game. The long-term vision for cybersecurity is to continue improving the ICS’s resilience against potential threats, contributing to the strategic objectives of the ICS.
John’s overall experience working with MTI has been extremely positive. The aspects of MTI’s service and support that stand out include their responsiveness, their understanding of the unique challenges faced by the ICS, and their commitment to delivering tailored solutions.
John would recommend MTI to other companies facing similar cybersecurity challenges. His advice to others considering MTI’s solutions is to leverage their expertise and tailored solutions to address unique cybersecurity challenges effectively. The strategic approach to cybersecurity that MTI offers is critical in a system that is always hard-pressed for budget, ensuring that the most important measures are taken to make their services resilient.
Our mission is to revolutionise the customer experience by slashing stress and slicing through complexity.
We relieve our customers of the heavy burden of cybersecurity and data protection.
